Having joined us as a temporary colleague Aimee, a recent graduate from The University of Birmingham, is now completing her training in the laboratory to get signed off as a permanent chemist where she will play a key role in analysing the quality of the waste oil being collected from our customers, as well as the quality of the processed fuel oil which we produce for onward sale.

Slicker Recycling has the largest and most modern transport fleet of compliant vehicles in the industry, comprising of specialist vehicles including 25 oil collectors, 15 hazardous waste trucks, 50 articulated trailers and 9 front line interceptor vehicles. We require 2 drivers to be based at our Ipswich site, that are capable of utilising all of these vehicles to work in a team servicing our 25,000 customers located across the UK completing over 1,500 individual waste bin movements, collecting an average of 1.5 million litres each week and transferring waste between plants, depots and sites.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious Class 1 HGV ADR Driver who will be responsible for the collection of waste oil and fuel from businesses and automotive sources whilst promoting the Slicker workplace values. We are Smart, Honest and Reliable, working Together whilst having Fun.

It is a 47.5 hour week, Monday to Friday with occasional nights out. Combined with various bonuses, average salary is circa £43,000 per annum.

Main tasks will include:

· Driving Heavy Goods Vehicles

We are looking for a collaborative and progressive Maintenance Team Leader to carry out and oversee both planned and unplanned mechanical maintenance across three production sites across Hull. This role includes a requirement for multifaceted working and the ability to maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved. This is a great role for someone who has experience in a mechanical maintenance role and is looking for the next step in their career.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Main Tasks will include: 

  • Ensure that the three production sites are maintained to the highest level
  • Oversee a small in-house team as well as specialist external contractors to ensure sites are maintained
  • Facilitate training within the maintenance team as requested by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure Health and Safety and Safe Systems of work are adhered to
  • Carry out risk assessments when appropriate
  • Problem solve within a production environment
  • Liaison with all departments within the company to ensure maintenance work is undertaken with the least disruption to production
  • Attend, diagnose and repair breakdowns
  • Maintain records of maintenance and testing on the company’s maintenance management systems
  • Provide weekly reports to the Maintenance Manager
  • Attend breakdowns outside of normal working hours where reasonable and critical
  • Provide on-call cover for one week in two.

We are looking for an innovative and highly collaborative Supply Chain Manager to join our burgeoning Commercial Team. You will need to have exceptional analytical skills, strong commercial awareness and be an excellent communicator. You will be responsible for managing costs through the supply chain and delivering growth through the implementation of new and improved services, and suppliers, for the Total Waste Management (TWM) and  Industrial Services Division (ISD). Ensuring that our existing suppliers and services meet both Slicker and our customer requirements, and that our team are knowledgeable and equipped to maximise all commercial opportunities. 

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Main Tasks will include: 

  • To review the TWM service offering and exploring new business opportunities to manage gaps and enable the TWM team to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a strategic approach to hit targets and develop sustainable growth.
  • Ensure a thorough knowledge of Slicker’s current marketplace and the industry to enable innovation and development of new initiatives, and the opening of new markets.
  • Regularly reviewing our service offer to provide regional and national services of suppliers, ensuring additional coverage and reactive services are available.
  • To develop collaborative partnerships with subcontractors, in line with our client’s requirements and company values, vision and mission statements.
  • Develop strong trading agreements between Slicker and customers/suppliers, identifying service improvements, monitoring KPI’s, revenue, profitability and debt.

  • To support the ongoing development of the TWM team, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to maximise and drive commercial opportunities.
  • To provide input for annual budgets in line with strategic financial objectives.
  • To liaise with the Commercial Manager regarding service and H&S concerns, and new business opportunities.
  • Regular reviews with marketing team to promote services, new/existing offers, and make decisions on discounts if required.

Training

From your very first day at Slicker Recycling, your induction will help you to better understand the requirements of your role, the team you will be working with, and the important part you will play in our business.

To help you settle in as quickly as possible you will have regular monthly catch ups with your manager as part of your structured probation period and they will be always be on hand if you need anything.

If professional membership or training is required we will support you financially to help you to maintain or develop further into your chosen career.

Communication

As a small company we have the ability to make decisions quickly and move with pace and urgency.

This makes communication really important, ensuring that our colleagues are up to date, informed about key business decisions, and aware of how we are performing.

We actively share information through our Slicker Standard newsletter, Colleague Representative Group, and quarterly performance updates. Twice a year our Managing Director tours the UK to provide all colleagues with a detailed business update which are often really lively and generate lots of debate.
