With over 35 years' service at Slicker, Dennis is our longest serving colleague. There is nothing that Dennis doesn’t know about our plant and a great deal of the knowledge and expertise that went in to developing our plant is owed to Dennis. Dennis is a dedicated worker, a dedicated family man and a dedicated follower of football. Well, Stoke City!

Lab Chemist

Having joined us as a temporary colleague Aimee, a recent graduate from The University of Birmingham, is now completing her training in the laboratory to get signed off as a permanent chemist where she will play a key role in analysing the quality of the waste oil being collected from our customers, as well as the quality of the processed fuel oil which we produce for onward sale.

Aimee has enjoyed meeting the team at the induction and is now looking forward to the Slicker Christmas party!

Trainee Account Manager

In a short amount of time, Olivia has shown off her talents for customer service and has progressed from a part-time Receptionist to a full-time Trainee Account Manager.

We also discovered that Olivia has other hidden talents as she successfully won the Rowing Cup Challenge with 3 of her Slicker colleagues in a local charity competition.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a variety of training programmes to all drivers in order to meet key business strategy and priorities. Main tasks will include:

    • To take full accountability for the provision of driver training ensuring that it is relevant to business requirements, solutions orientated, accessible, and meets the need of the drivers.
    • To provide a variety of training and development solutions covering comprehensive and refresher sessions, ensuring the advice and guidance is appropriate and relevant across all divisions.
    • To create and maintain a comprehensive catalogue of training materials, considering different learning needs to include new starter inductions, vehicle, and role specific training.
    • Liaise with Logistics colleagues to ensure that safety related training is up to date and when required, assist in the delivery of this through inductions.
    • To ensure that training is updated and in line with statutory and company requirements.
    • Continually monitor HSE legislation to ensure full compliance relating to safety and statutory training.
    • To assist in the development and maintenance of effective records of training using a training matrix, regularly evaluating, and assessing the effectiveness of training delivered
    • To identify areas of non-conformance and work collaboratively with Logistics management to produce action plans to rectify issues within required timescales.
    • To champion the effective management of transport related safe systems of work in line with company policy and statutory duties to develop a training culture.
    • To update relevant line managers on any issues that may impact on delegates performance

  • Proven experience in delivering effective training for LGV C+E and Cat C Drivers
  • Knowledge and experience within the road transport liquid tanker sector or a similar specialist sector

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Working with the Operation’s manager to plan and undertake operational tasks on the site including the receipt, testing, offloading, storage, treatment and recording of various wastes including oil and packages wastes
  • Ensure the operations are compliant with the various site operating procedures, permits and authorisations
  • Ensure that wastes are only stored in the correct areas and in accordance with site operational procedures and permitted activities
  • To record and relay site information as required including loads in and out stock levels, using the vehicle weigh bridge system and controls
  • To complete all paperwork in accordance with company processes and legal requirements
  • To work with other colleagues at Hull and within the wider Slicker group to aid the smooth operation of the site
  • All operational and mess areas to be kept clean and tidy. Good Housekeeping to be practised at all times

The waste oil we collect is treated using our own proprietary technology processes at the Slicker refinery plants. From your very first day at Slicker Recycling, your induction will help you to better understand the requirements of your role, the team you will be working with, and the important part you will play in our business.
