Having joined us as a temporary colleague Aimee, a recent graduate from The University of Birmingham, is now completing her training in the laboratory to get signed off as a permanent chemist where she will play a key role in analysing the quality of the waste oil being collected from our customers, as well as the quality of the processed fuel oil which we produce for onward sale.

Trainee Account Manager

In a short amount of time, Olivia has shown off her talents for customer service and has progressed from a part-time Receptionist to a full-time Trainee Account Manager.

Main tasks will include:

  • Being a point of contact (during normal office hours) for operational colleagues, who require technical / engineering assistance and advice
  • Oversee and manage plant asset integrity and maintenance programs across the business, to ensure ongoing engineering compliance

Full Job Description

We are offering courses and full-time employment in the Liverpool area which provide on the job training covering a variety of civil engineering skills, including drainage works and water management. Alongside this we will support you in  achieving the respective industry standard qualifications, and in time becoming a fully skilled Technical Services Engineer. Once fully qualified you can expect to achieve a salary of between £35K to £40K per annum.

Through the apprenticeship, the candidate will undertake a confined space entry (CSE) certification, high pressure water jetting (HPWJ) certificate and SPA petrol passport / UK PIA. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the candidate may wish to consider furthering their career- Slicker support progression and training plans are available for class 1 and 2 licenses as part of a continuous training programme.  

The Technical Service Apprentice will support one of our drainage specialists with servicing the needs of a wide variety of clients including petrol forecourts, distribution depots, automotive and commercial vehicle workshops, and a number of other business types throughout the UK. The role will involve planned and reactive services, maintenance and assisting in repair of drainage works and pipelines.

The role will include continuous on the job training alongside our highly qualified engineers, efficiently carrying out drainage maintenance in a safe and compliant manner. This is in accordance with all health & safety legislation/procedures as our colleague’s welfare is paramount to Slicker.

 

What could a typical day within the Technical Services Division involve?

Attending a football ground to complete an excavation and repairs on a wash bay and install new gullies. Visiting a petrol forecourt to carry out CCTV of their drainage and subsequently providing a report with recommendations. Attending a Quarry to do a deep clean and integrity test of their heavily used interceptor.

As you can see our weeks are very varied with no two days being the same!

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities 

  • The successful candidate will be travelling between sites and working inside customer’s properties, using a PDA & paperwork to organise the team’s workload and update jobs with completion status and any recommendations to the admin team
  • The successful candidate will be jointly responsible for reactive and planned maintenance drainage works at domestic and commercial properties.
  • Ensure all work carried out on site is in line with the company legal/licence requirements and all paperwork, job cards and site visit documentation is completed, signed off and recorded accurately and in a fully compliant way.

As a result of the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will — 

  • Know about how to conduct a CCTV report to identify issues and report back
  • Gaining experience in the preparation of reports, drawings and specifications

Full Job Description

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To work in a manner that will bring credit to Slicker Recycling by displaying qualities of punctuality, presentable appearance, well mannered, polite, and courteous to a client’s representatives and other Group employees at all times.
  • Ensure all work carried out on site is in line with the company legal / licence requirement and all paperwork and site visit documentation is completed, signed off and recorded accurately and in a fully compliant way.
  • Normal working start time is 6am, working through to completion of works; although, occasionally, earlier starts may be required and/or later finishes depending on individual job/client requirements.
  • Overnight patterns will be required (on a rota basis) to accommodate customer requirements.
  • Typically field based, requiring working away from home/base locations for the majority of time. Job will require (once trained/competent) being part of the on-call rotation covering weekends; weekend working may be available from time to time to cover additional client requirements / backlog of works.
  • Must have a flexible approach to working patterns where required to ensure the needs of the business are met.
  • Any training required for the role will be supplied by the business.

Skills & Key Requirements

Essential skills and experience

  • Driver CPC
  • Class 2 Driving Licence
  • Have a productive organisational focus
  • Be self-motivated, adaptable and act on own initiative
  • Logical approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Knowledge of operations / H&S / scheduling practices
  • Excellent housekeeping

Preferred

  • Experience in operating Jet Vac type vehicles
  • High pressure water jetting certificate
  • UKPIA petrol station safety passport
  • Confined space entry certification
  • ADR Licence

The waste oil we collect is treated using our own proprietary technology processes at the Slicker refinery plants.
