The UK’s leading used oil collection specialists, Slicker Recycling, continue to break new ground with the official launch of their tank telemetry programme, in partnership with FoxInsights. This new initiative strives to enhance visibility, drive efficiencies, and further improve Slicker’s outstanding nationwide used oil service.
In November, the first phase of Slicker’s tank telemetry project will roll out, with 250 units to be delivered to strategic customers UK-wide. The units are set to revolutionise the way used oil collections are carried out, enabling both Slicker Recycling and their customers, to see the capacity of storage tanks, simply by looking at a digital dashboard.
The key benefits of this digital leap are clear. In terms of costs to the customer, Slicker Recycling will ensure collections are arranged when tanks are near capacity, helping to maximise the collection volume of each visit and reduce the costs associated with frequent collections. Not only this, but having more efficient collections, also helps customers lower their Scope 3 carbon emissions related to these collections.
Health, safety and environmental risks are also decreased through this innovative technology. By enabling both Slicker Recycling and the customer to easily monitor storage tank levels, potentially hazardous spillages, and their costly clean-ups, can be avoided. Before the tank reaches its maximum holding limit, Slicker will arrange for a collection, minimising risk and maintaining peace of mind for the customer.
Using this technology, Slicker looks to continuously improve their services. Having access to a wealth of historical data will drive improvements tailored to the specific needs of each customer. Through this incremental, data-led process, Slicker will further refine their service and achieve further cost savings for the customer.

The technology driving this used oil collection revolution is provided by FoxInsights, a global player in the world of tank telemetry, who work alongside a wide range of sectors, including the lubricant market, both domestic and commercial, as well as, LPG, diesel, heating oil, and pellets.
The FoxInsights devices Slicker Recycling will be implemented, use state-of-the-art radar and pressure sensing technology to provide accurate tank readings. These sensors are backed up by a suite of dashboard analytics which will be readily available for both the customer and Slicker’s operational and commercial teams.
