It can be easy to forget what is below our feet, however it is important that businesses stay on top of the servicing and maintenance of their Interceptor and drainage systems.

Below are few frequently asked questions we often receive from customers regarding their drainage systems:

How often should I have my interceptor serviced? This depends on how busy your site your site is, however as a rule of thumb we would recommend businesses have their interceptors cleared every six months with a full inspection every 12 months.
Why do we need to service our interceptors? The purpose of an interceptor is to prevent hazardous substances from entering watercourses and foul drains, polluting the local environment. Over time debris builds up within an interceptor which can cause hazardous substances to escape. By removing this debris regularly, you minimise the risk of contamination.
Why should we have an interceptor integrity test? It is important that interceptors are periodically examined to ensure they are in working order. Our technical teams inspect the structural integrity of interceptors to ensure there are no defects. They will ensure that all aspects of the interceptor, including, baffle walls, sensors, probes and filters are operating as they should. Guidelines state that this should take place every 5 year.
We have a blockage in our pipework but don’t know where it is, how will you find it? Using our state-of-the-art fibre optic CCTV camera, we are able to identify where a blockage is and what is causing it.
How will you remove the blockage? We use a high-pressure water jetting equipment which can descale and remove blockages with ease. We can also use an electro mechanical cleaner for small diameter pipes.
How can we prevent blockages from happening? Blockages in drains can be caused by numerous factors. Avoid pouring/flushing insoluble products down the drain such as wet wipes, fats and greases.
If our pipework has a defect in it will you need to dig up my site to repair it? No, Slicker provides a no-dig service for defective pipework. Our patch lining repair method is a quick, efficient and cost-effective solution for damaged drainage systems. Saving you time and money by lining the defect and rather than replacing the whole pipe.
We don’t know what our drainage system looks like can you provide us with a map? Yes we can! Using our fibre optic CCTV camera technology and Sonde, we can provide you with a full site survey of your drainage system, highlighting the flow direction and key features such as manhole covers, interceptors and aco channels.
Will you provide us with the legal paperwork? Yes, we will provide you with all the necessary paperwork as evidence that your interceptors/drainage systems are fully maintained and serviced.
